Coggiola Art Residence (C.A.R.) is under construction
– and OPENS in 2024/25
Now professional artists’ have an unique opportunity to experience the beginning, and participate in shaping a warm and spacious working environment at the new art residence C.A.R. in Coggiola, Italy.
C.A.R. welcome inquiries from individual and groups of artist from various contemporary artforms for a working stay, whether you are socially orientated and want to exchange with other artists, or as well if you seek absolute quiet for contemplation.
RESIDENCY
Purpose
Staying at C.A.R. aims to support professional artists’ process in inspiring surroundings. Whether it is the start of a new project, a mid-term work period in new surroundings or completion for an exhibition, publication or something else that needs a new and perhaps challenging look to reach the goal.
We want to establish an internationally vibrant and flexible art environment, a meeting- and network place, for artists of all ages and all contemporary disciplines -- visual arts, literature, performance, film and video, sound art and music … etc
In particular, we want to accommodate younger artists' opportunity to work and meet in an inspiring community.
C.A.R. is also suitable for art conferences, symposiums, seminars etc. - which we are happy to receive inquiries about.
We want C.A.R. to be present in the area and believe that some of the visiting artists will work site-specifically and/ or gain by collaborating and networking with the surroundings and the capacities of the local population.
Occasionally, we will open parts of C.A.R., including the park, for exhibitions, public viewings of ongoing works, talks, performances and other events. - We are excited to involve citizens from near and far to follow C.A.R.'s activities, and with whom we would like to connect.
Duration
A stay is basically a minimum of two weeks duration.
Shorter stay is welcome when possible, but applicants for two weeks or longer have priority.
Facilities
- Private room with single or double bed
- Shared bathrooms and toilets located near the rooms
- Desk in each room
- Bed linen and towels provided
- Shared kitchen and living areas
- Various flexible workshop spaces, indoors and outdoors
You can prepare food yourself in the large kitchen. Alone or with others, depending on your and others' wishes. This is both a saving and a break activity.
Expect a historic house to be respected for its charm and certain limitations.
Economy
C.A.R. is run as a non-profit, and we focus on keeping costs at a reasonable level.

ABOUT
The hosts
Coggiola Art Residence has been established by the visual artists Eva Miklos and Henrik Miklos Andersen from Denmark. Who has many years of experience with artist-run communities, residencies and curation.
The property
The historic property that contains workshops, housing, common rooms, a park-like garden, etc. is centrally located on the square in the small town Coggiola. - The beautiful property, which is very spacious, inside and out, dates from the mid- 17th century and was rebuilt in the Liberty style in the 1920s.
The town and surroundings
Coggiola is a picturesque small town in the Biella province of Piedmont, in northwestern Italy, near the borders of Switzerland and France, right in the middle between Turin and Milan, a bend up towards the foothills of the Alps. The town is located on the edge of the mountains, which surroundings also are known as a beautiful area for hiking and mountain biking.
C.A.R. is centrally located, facing the beautiful church in the main square of the town; close to cafes, bars, restaurants and shopping opportunities.

TURIN AIRPORT. Approx. 105 km / approx. 1:20 hour by car.

Rent a car, and get easily from the airport and around the area.
Car hire in Italy is cheap.
Public transport from the airports to Coggiola takes a little longer, but is absolutely possible. Italy is connected by high-speed trains between the major cities.
